this is the way we ball
I feel like a large piece of this essay was not touched on during class discussion, which is the dumbing down of information so that it may be passed on to the masses via a user interface. He speaks of disney world and the mayan jungle he is able to pass through without ever actually encountering the perils one would have to to view such things. This is wonderful in a way, it allows people to experience things they never would, and they dont even have to work for it. It is also harmful in that way, we become accustomed to being spoon fed information via an interface and we become unnadaptable and unmotivated when raw, natural information and experience are available, usually through more work than would be needed with the gui. My mock blog takes aim at the trend culture mainly based in NYC, where they frequently bastardize styles and genres of music, making them trendy for a short time before they are once again discarded, usually within a year. My particular translator coincides with the huge growth of Houston rap and the local slang that has grown with it this returns the proper H-town way of speaking after you insert your desired text. This allows you the superficial knowledge of the culture (all that is necessary to follow the trend) and how speak properly without ever having to learn it in the context of its own environment or understand the culture from which it came. This is for the most part how people want to learn, by taking things into their own environment rather than making the effort to go into something elses. Interfaces facilitate this, for better or for worse. (these blogs also usually have really ugly banners)
